How is the grayscale calculated?
Each pixel uses the standard perceptual formula (about 30% red, 59% green and 11% blue), which matches how bright colours appear to the human eye.
What does the threshold do?
Pixels brighter than the threshold become white and darker pixels become black. Raise it to make more of the image black.
Can I make a signature background white?
Yes. Choose "Pure black & white" and raise the threshold until the paper turns completely white.
