Why watermark a PDF?
Watermarks discourage people from sharing or reusing documents without permission and make the status of a document obvious. Common examples are CONFIDENTIAL on contracts, DRAFT on documents under review, SAMPLE on previews, and your company name on proposals.
Can a watermark be removed?
This tool draws the watermark into each page, so it cannot simply be switched off in a PDF reader. Determined users with PDF editing software can still remove it, so a watermark is a deterrent rather than a guarantee.
Frequently asked questions
Can I watermark only some pages?
Yes. Enter pages like "1-3, 7" in the Pages box. Leave it empty to watermark every page.
Which characters can I use?
Latin letters, numbers and common punctuation, including accented letters like é and ü. Other alphabets are not supported by the built-in PDF font.
Does it work with scanned PDFs?
Yes. The watermark is drawn on top of each page, whether the page contains text or a scanned image.
