Common character limits
X (Twitter) posts: 280. Instagram captions: 2,200. Instagram bio: 150. Facebook post preview: about 125 before "See more". SEO title: about 60. Meta description: about 160. SMS: 160 characters per message, or 70 if it contains emoji or non-Latin letters.
Why emoji count differently
An emoji like 👍🏽 looks like one character but is made of several code units. This counter shows the visible character count, plus the byte size, which some systems limit instead.

Does X count emoji as two characters?
X counts most emoji as 2 characters toward the 280 limit. This counter shows visible characters, so leave a little room if you use many emoji.
Why does my SMS split into several messages?
A single SMS holds 160 basic characters, or only 70 if it contains emoji or non-Latin letters such as Urdu. Longer texts are split into segments.
