Where the voices come from
The tool uses your device's speech engine, so the available voices depend on your browser and operating system. Chrome and Edge include high-quality online voices; Windows, macOS, Android and iOS add their own.
Listening to proofread
Hearing your text read aloud is one of the best ways to catch missing words, repetition and awkward sentences that your eyes skip over.
Frequently asked questions
Can I download the audio as MP3?
Browsers do not allow recording their built-in speech voices, so the audio plays live only.
Is Urdu or Hindi supported?
Yes, if your device has a voice for that language. Chrome on Android and Edge on Windows usually do.
Is my text sent anywhere?
With device voices, no. Some browsers' "online" voices are processed by the browser maker's speech service.
