How to use Audio Normalizer

  1. 1Choose an audio file.
  2. 2Pick the target loudness.
  3. 3Click "Normalize" and download.

Features

  • EBU R128 loudness normalization
  • Targets of −14, −16 or −23 LUFS
  • True-peak limiting to avoid clipping
  • Keeps the original format
  • No upload

Which loudness should I choose?

−14 LUFS matches Spotify and YouTube. −16 LUFS is the common target for podcasts and Apple Podcasts. −23 LUFS is the European broadcast standard (EBU R128). A true-peak limit of −1.5 dB prevents distortion.

Private, in-browser processing

This tool uses FFmpeg, the open-source engine behind most professional video software, running inside your browser. The first time you use it, the engine (about 30 MB) is downloaded once and then cached, so later conversions start straight away.

Frequently asked questions

Are my files uploaded?

No. Processing happens on your device with FFmpeg compiled to WebAssembly, so your video and audio never leave your computer or phone.

Why does it take a while?

Video processing is demanding, and your browser does it on your own device instead of a big server. Short clips take seconds; long or 4K videos can take several minutes. Keep the tab open until it finishes.

How is this different from the volume booster?

The volume booster multiplies the level by a fixed amount. Normalization measures how loud the audio sounds and adjusts it to a target, so different files end up equally loud.
