CSV to JSON Converter

Turn spreadsheet data into JSON for APIs, databases and code. Paste CSV or open a .csv file, and each row becomes a JSON object keyed by the header row.

Free · No sign-up · Files stay on your device

How to use CSV to JSON

  1. 1Paste CSV text or open a .csv file.
  2. 2Pick the separator, or leave it on auto-detect.
  3. 3Copy the JSON result or download it as a .json file.

Features

  • Comma, semicolon and tab separators
  • Automatic number and boolean detection
  • Correct handling of quotes and line breaks
  • Open files or paste text
  • Your data never leaves the browser

How values are converted

The first row is used as the property names. Numbers like 42 or 3.14 become JSON numbers, "true" and "false" become booleans, and empty cells become empty strings. Quoted fields with commas and line breaks are handled correctly.

Opening CSV files in Excel

If all your data lands in one column in Excel, your region probably uses semicolons as the list separator. Choose ";" as the separator, or use Data → From Text/CSV in Excel to pick it manually.

Frequently asked questions

Is my data uploaded?

No. The conversion runs entirely in your browser, so it is safe for private or business data.

What if my CSV has no header row?

Untick "First row is header" and columns are named column1, column2 and so on.

Is there a size limit?

No fixed limit. Files of several megabytes convert in a moment on most computers.
