Check before you open
QR codes can hide malicious links. This scanner shows the full link before opening anything, so you can check that the address is what you expect. Be careful with codes stuck on parking meters, posters and payment terminals.
Getting a good scan
Use a sharp image where the whole code is visible, including the white border around it. Screenshots work best; photos should be straight-on and in focus.
Frequently asked questions
Can it read barcodes too?
No, only QR codes. Product barcodes (EAN, UPC) are a different format.
Why can't it find a code?
The image may be blurry, too small, cut off or heavily distorted. Try a closer, sharper photo or a screenshot.
Can I scan a QR code that is on my screen?
Yes. Take a screenshot (Windows: Win+Shift+S; Mac: Cmd+Shift+4), then paste it here with Ctrl+V or Cmd+V.
