What is EXIF data?

EXIF is information your camera saves inside each photo: the camera and lens model, settings, the date and time, and often the GPS coordinates. Anyone who gets the original file can read it, which can reveal where you live or work.

Is image quality affected?

No. For JPG and PNG, the metadata blocks are cut out of the file directly, so the picture data is not re-compressed. The only exception is a photo with a rotation tag: it is redrawn upright first so it does not appear sideways once the tag is gone.

Frequently asked questions

Do social networks remove EXIF automatically?

Many large platforms strip it from public posts, but email, messaging apps, cloud links and many websites send the original file with all its metadata.

Will my photo look different?

No. The pixels are untouched for JPG and PNG files. Only the hidden metadata is removed.

Are my photos uploaded?

No. Everything happens in your browser, which matters for a privacy tool. Your photos never leave your device.
