What sharpening can and cannot do
Sharpening increases contrast along edges, which makes slightly soft photos look crisper. It cannot recover detail that was never captured, so badly blurred or tiny images will not become sharp. Too much sharpening creates bright halos around edges; around 40–70 usually looks natural.
Frequently asked questions
Can it fix a very blurry photo?
No tool can fully restore detail that was never recorded. Sharpening helps photos that are slightly soft.
Why do I see halos around edges?
The strength is too high. Lower it until the halos disappear.
Does it work on scanned documents?
Yes. Sharpening makes faded text easier to read.
