What contrast does
Contrast is the difference between the light and dark parts of an image. Increasing it makes darks darker and lights lighter, which adds punch to hazy or foggy photos. Reducing it gives a softer, more muted look.
How much to adjust
Values between 10 and 30 improve most dull photos without looking artificial. Very high values clip shadows to black and highlights to white, losing detail.
Frequently asked questions
Why does my photo look washed out?
Haze, cheap lenses and shooting into light reduce contrast. Increasing contrast by 15–30 usually fixes it.
Does it change colours?
Colours become more or less intense as contrast changes, but their hue stays the same. Use Adjust Saturation for colour intensity alone.
Is there a batch option?
Yes. Add up to 100 images to apply the same contrast change.
