Saturation explained
Saturation is the intensity of colour. Fully saturated colours are bold and pure; desaturated colours drift toward grey. A setting of -100 removes all colour, giving a grayscale image.
Avoiding over-saturation
Skin tones are the first thing to look unnatural. Keep boosts below about 40 for portraits; landscapes and food photos can usually take more.
Frequently asked questions
Does saturation change brightness?
No. Saturation is adjusted around each pixel's perceived brightness, so the overall lightness of the photo stays the same.
Can I make a photo black and white?
Yes. Set the slider to -100, or use the Black & White Image tool for more options.
Are my images uploaded?
No. Processing happens on your device.
